Giftmas survived, amusing/stupid Amazon seller, and defective Palm.

Despite the end of the stomach bug limiting my activity, I survived Christmas with nary a scratch. I'll post (including photos) in more detail when I have more energy, but everyone was happy with what they received. I got a much-anticipated call from Michael and was assured he and K. were fine, just out of contact for a few weeks, and had a long conversation with vogonpoet, after which I was hungry for the first time since that bug bit me. I blame his Vogon tactics. (:

As a further reminder of why I avoiding the South is good for me, the used copy I ordered of Uncle Tom's Cabin (assigned reading at the middle school) showed up today... or rather, what the seller told me was did. I'm sending The First Step Bible back to Kentucky tomorrow and asking for a refund. I was mildly amused when I did a WHOIS query on the seller's domain name and got the seller's name and e-mail with an address in Maryland, but both addresses are still both south of the Manson-Nixon Line. Bah.

If anyone in Denver wants to hit the nearest CompUSA with me, it'd be appreciated. The Palm m500 meant to replace my dying-from-old-age HP Jornada would be swell if it actually worked. The screen is apparently disconnected but fixing it ourselves would probably void the warranty, so we're gonna have to haul to BFE to get to a store (the three nearest stores to us are the Westminster and Denver stores). If I have to RMA it I'm just going to ask for a refund and go to Best Buy, which has the advantage of having a store at Denver West, the only reasonably close church of consumerism to the house.
