I have pared back my friends list recently, primarily to read the things that interest me most. In case anyone feels personally slighted, I'm offering an explanation.

I dropped two communities, altparent and vaginapagina, because of their high signal-to-noise ratio. I'd still recommend AP to anyone interested in alternative and general parenting topics, but I got tired of the increasingly frequent disagreements there over what I consider "agree to disagree" topics. Unless VP has drastically cut back on posts since I stopped reading it several weeks ago, it was just too high-traffic with posts I thought were more appropriate for other communities and people using irrelevant subject lines made me want to go beserk with a clue-by-four.

Individual users:
- amethystgreye: I got too alarmed when you posted things that insinuated that your personal situation was dire, then shrugged them off as overreacting. Check that box of Tavist in your drawer and if it's past its expiration date, dispose of it.
- gimmickless: I forgive but I can't forget when someone in a better financial situation takes advantage of something of significant monetary value we loaned with spoken intent to return. I hope our old recliner eats you.
- holeinthedonut: Simply lost a feeling of connection with your posts. I always enjoyed seeing your latest sketches and wish you success with your art. By the way, Gimmickless is still mooning over what happened in January.
- morganastar: Also lost a feeling of connection with your posts. Love your rats and hope you are happy wherever you live.

Several people I don't know have me on their Friends list: amie_e, architectstorm, el_hombre, jack_burroghs, paradoxymoron, and rkmlai. If any of you want me to add you in return, drop me a line introducing yourself since I couldn't glean much from your userinfo pages.

Until further notice, all anonymous comments will be automatically screened.

Individual event photos have been posted for mountain_hiker' birthday party (link) and Saturday's LARP with Andy GMing (link). Any other photos taken at the party (and ID of the ladies in the first photo) and anyone that LARPed that could help me caption the photos with what's going on in them would be greatly appreciated. I prefer e-mail for both but will deal with it if you comment to this post instead.

A few stray notes:
- Cake pans will go up on eBay sometime this week as I haven't gotten the photos finished.
- Saw a one-antlered young bull elk today, but haven't looked at the unloaded photos yet. Hopefully at least one shot will be good enough to share.
- Knights of Columbus remind me a lot of Masons, but I don't think they have a secret handshake. They did look at us funny at the pancake breakfast today, but it was probably just their Satan Sense tingling since I'm not Catholic.
- Our 2001 (last year) tax refund finally arrived, check instead of direct deposit because the IRS had to adjust it after we got more child tax credit than I calculated, and truncated my last name. Will have to see if the bank will let me deposit it before Himself arrives later this week or if I have to wait until he's here to co-endorse it since his name's not shortened on it. Too bad, since "Craw" would have been funnier than "Gutie" (I use both last names, no hyphen).

It's actually Matt, I'm just doing this anonymous so it's Screened/More For Your Eyes or whatever (boy, will I look silly if I'm mis-interpreting the screening thing...), but anyway, I'm not sure if you saw it/care, but on my LJ a few posts ago (it's still front page of mine, but it's down a ways since I've been posting a lot lately...), I mentioned that amazon.com has a copy of Hofstadter's "Le Ton Beau De Marot" for $0.50 (plus shipping, probably 2 bucks)... I just checked, and it's still there for that price. Anyway, I figure 2.50 or so isn't bad for a 20.00 book. It's a paperback, though, so I don't know if that bothers you, but I've seen the paperback, and it actually looks to be pretty nice binding, so... yeah.

Anyway, if you're interested, it's there!

Oh yeah, if it turns out you don't care about the thing that I just sent you in screenmode, feel free to post it here/unscreen it, to throw it out to other people (since I figure that if you don't care, there's probably someone who reads this who does).

.... actually, I suppose I could have just emailed you about it, but I like the more complicated way.

It was absolutely delightful. If it's still there after I deposit the aforementioned tax refund check, it'll be heading here by the end of the week. Otherwise I'll buy a more expensive copy because I love Hofstadter.

I'm always happy when you're complicated. Do you want my cell phone number sometime? (;

Heh, cool.. I think I first noticed it about 3 days ago, so I figure you've got a pretty good shot at it (my main worry is that they'll go "OH THIS IS WRONG", tell you they don't have it, and then re-list it with a sane price (happened to me once at Half.com -- they had an Incredibly Insanely Rare Wall of Voodoo CD for 10 bucks, I ordered it, then they go "oh, we don't have it anymore", even though they'd posted it _maybe_ 30 minutes before.). But, yeah, it's a pretty good one, I think, so, hey, even if this doesn't work out, getting the a more-expensive-yet-still-relatively-cheap copy would be good. (BTW, if you're still looking for Infinite Jest, half.com and I think Amazon sometimes has copies up for ~5 or 6 bucks).

Also, perhaps a cel number would be good, although I'm not sure when I could really call you, what with me working nights now and all, so..8)

found you originally via a community, then re-found you via a friend's aunt or grandma who's friended you. :P ANd I'm not telling you any more than that.
Friending me is up to you. You might want ot browse first, I get pretty update happy.

who I am
I'm adagiopassion's husband, if that means anything (hmm, I don't think it will). I liked some of your posts to altparent, and so added you.

That's all.

I've enjoyed reading your stuff.

Re: who I am
*blinks* I didn't think anyone read my comments in altparent. Wow

I checked out your journal and laughed my ass off at a few recent posts, so I've added you back.

Re: who I am

Then again, some people seem to think that life isn't either.

LARPing Pics
I've emailed you some more detailed information about the LARPing photos. I don't remember the names of the people involved, save for those I had met previously... Sherbo could tell you though...

Re: LARPing Pics
Thanks. Would you mind sending the URL to Sherbo for me? I don't think I have his e-mail address, though I do have his AIM screenname somewhere.

Glad you've kept me. I happen to think you're interesting even though we don't "know" each other. Besides, I've got a thing for smart, cute geeky girls.
Sep. 16th, 2003 12:44 am (UTC)
I've got a thing for people who can write things that actually move me. Can someone near you rub your head for me?
Sep. 15th, 2003 10:19 am (UTC)
Glad I stayed despite my recent posts about watching movies with dry anal rape as a child. I expected everyone to drop me from their friends lists after those.
Sep. 16th, 2003 12:42 am (UTC)
You're too entertaining for me to drop. And we own Deliverance on DVD just in case I ever forget why it was great to escape the South.
Sep. 16th, 2003 02:32 pm (UTC)
Aww... thanks. I rarely post though - which is why people have dropped me in the past - just when something stikes my fancy.
