Things are in a holding pattern around here as school winds down and Laurel looks forward to flying "by herself" (as an unaccompanied minor) to visit her grandparents for the summer. Waiting to hear back on paperwork submitted with what seems like minute details of our finances. And the mama mourning dove, dubbed Isabel by the little miss, has laid another two eggs in one of our hanging baskets I haven't planted yet this year.

The downside of Texas spring weather is frequently painful sinuses and I'm trying to go easy on the Sudafed (it works, but it's spendy), so until then please enjoy the happy little trees around the corner from me.

Happy little trees

Sorry you're feeling miserable! Hope it gets better soon!

I can't help but wonder if the artist behind the smiley faces bears more than a passing resemblance to the late Bob Ross. Happy little trees along the happy little street. :)

If I ever see someone that looks like Bob Ross around here, I would ask if I could take their photo. That would be SO AWESOME.

Most of the people I see on that stretch of street are folks waiting for the bus, joggers/runners and dog walkers, with just a few people walking for other reasons. And the multiple landscaping crews, which is how I can tell you that Jesus is here and one time he offered me a ride.

happy trees! :D

so, how goes vogon? *hugs* you know i'm rooting for you!

Vogon is still having a tough time. He got a callback on a job today, but it was in Oklahoma City so he politely decline. He is doing well enough on his own at home that I'll be starting work full-time once Laurel's off for the summer.

Our family doctor will be looking at his records from the hospital and neurologist, then she'll talk to us about making a plan for pursuing a diagnosis and treatment. At this point we don't have anything firmer than the bump to his head a few days before the seizure may have shifted things around the site of his 2005 head injury, causing the acute neuro symptoms, and he may be having problems related to liver function.

With the CICHP and prior Medicaid applications completed, the next glob of paperwork I'm taking on will be with the VA (the local VA hospital is about a 30-minute drive from us) and disability.

Things will get better as we learn more about what's causing his symptoms and my income makes life a little easier. Getting to eat for free at work will be awesome -- I'm pretty sure I'm genetically wired to never get tired of beans and rice. (:

yeah, i'm the queen of cheap eats!

*hugs* i know it's hard, but you're making progress. if you need any help, please let me know, ok?

are you excited about work? you have such a lovely personality and work ethic that any place would be lucky to hire you.

trshtwns01 has offered me contact information for the company that helped with her disability claim, so I am hopeful that the paperwork for that process will be much easier than the time-consuming hole that the applications I've already completed have been.

I am very excited about work even though I'm starting part-time until Vogon is more steady on his own. My references were people I've volunteered with in PTA and I guess they said lovely things about me, because I wasn't expecting to get the job with my minimal work history and years as a stay-at-home mom.

well of course the people you volunteer with would say lovely things about you! you're a giving, loving, kind and delightful human being. *hugs*
