Friday Five: Places to go, have been to, be from...

the friday five

1. Where were you born? The log cabin my maternal grandparents built, presently addressed as 25 Irish Lane, Rutland, Massachusetts. I was the first person born in Rutland since 1946 -- for years, babies were delivered at the hospital in neighboring Holden, and by the time I arrived, the nearest maternity unit was in Worcester.

2. If you still live there, where would you rather move to? If you don't live there, do you want to move back? Why or why not? I lived only briefly in Rutland, so I can't truly say I miss it. I miss my memories of the area around the cabin, and a few other memories of the house closer to town that my grandparents moved into in the mid-1990s. I would like to move back to central Massachusetts someday, but that's mostly out of nostalgia... I really doubt I could afford it.

3. Where in the world do you feel the safest? I will refrain from answering this.

4. Do you feel you are well-traveled? Within the United States, reasonably. Outside of the US, not in the least.

5. Where is the most interesting place you've been? The inside of my nose, or rather, watching the inside of my nose displayed on a 27" television screen while an overpriced otolaryntologist manipulated a camera around to look for structural problems in my nose. It had no effect on my chronic sinusitis, but I'm sure it amused my friend Aziz as much as it did me to think of the process as a really bad B-movie. Also, I have no nasal polyps, not that you wanted to know that.
