Holiday travelogue, days 5 and 6: more snow, Eagle COH and Zoolights

In case we didn't get enough snow on Christmas Day (an even foot [30 cm] here), we got more on Thursday. I only shoveled a little this time since the charm of shoveling wore off after the second time on Christmas Day.

Dad got itchy to go out this time and we needed to pick up some ice melt granules, but we got a bit of a late start. Stopped downtown for coffee and discovered Twigs was closed due to the snow that day, so we peeked in Aspen's, where that day's find in my size was a lambswool hooded sweater. Much to our amusement, its variegated blue pattern matches Vogon's winter scarf. (: We got something else blue but I can't tell you what it is or else I'd have to kill you.

We extricated ourselves from the warmth of the store and drove out to Wal-Mart (are you seeing a trend here?) to get the aforementioned ice melt, a gift and a few groceries. This time we saw local snowboarder Lakota Sage, I got funny looks by telling my sister about the relative merits of scopes, and we annoyed the lady not-helping Dad by asking her which purse I should get (same bag, different colors). Despite our l33t skills at finding fruit and forgetting that I wanted English muffins, we made it home in one piece, wrapped the gift and Dad and I made it out the door in time to attend a holiday Eagle Court of Honor.

It was cheerfully weird to see Scouters I knew as Cub Scout leaders and kids we babysat in high school as Boy Scout leaders and senior patrol leaders in our local troop. We had a lovely time and I got to chat afterward with the freshly minted Eagle's older sister Catherine, who Evergreen readers should remember. (She passed the bar and works in DC now.)

I have totally forgotten most of Friday. Consider this a placeholder until I upload photos to Flickr (probably later tonight) and use the pictures as a springboard to ramble about Zoolights. I froze the snot in my nose out there.
