One thing I like about traditional needlepoint is that it stitches up much faster than cross-stitch or petit-point, both of which I love but sometimes I want a quicker project.

While I don't think I'll be stitching anything from Rosey Grier's Needlepoint for Men, that samurai is pretty badass.

Mushroom? Snake! Badger badger badger...

I had to ask about the song because all three of the girls in my family are named after songs. It's just one of many of my dad's interesting quirks.

Both of my sisters were named by my mother...which, having heard some of my father's ideas, is a damned good thing.
I'm just named for my father, except I'm II. (Not Junior; couldn't live in a small town with a semi-normal name, nope. HAD to have an ordinal. Thanks, Dad!)

Re: Nope, no song.
I am fascinated by the way people choose names for their children.

My parents' one anomaly in naming was giving me a middle initial instead of a full middle name, but it goes well with my orneriness.
During my senior year of high school one of the counselors insisted that I *must* have a middle name that I just didn't want read at graduation, but one call to my parents settled that.

My dad is also named for his father, except that Grandpa's first name is in English and Dad's in Spanish. No Junior there either, except on Dad's shoeshine box.
