Laurel got her first nine weeks' report card yesterday and is doing well across the board: every percentile grade was 90% or higher, 1-4 graded subjects like arts and character development are 3s (performing consistently as expected) with 4s in citizenship, integrity, cooperation and respect. I'm proud of her.
While home sick today, she's mostly rested, helped me with an Elmo's World episode synopsis for MuppetWiki, dictated her artist statement and process statement for her Reflections entries (one photograph, one collage), read and is now playing with her LeapFrog Turbo Twist Math since she's been struggling with word problems.
We went to our costumed pack meeting last night, her in a store-bought Tinkerbell costume and me dressed as a lost tourist, complete with lei, enormous "diamond" earrings and black socks. My den cheered really loudly for me in the funniest costume part of the adult costume contest!
I'm getting ready for camping next weekend -- Laurel's really excited about it! Left to do are finding out if Vogon wants to go (he doesn't do cold anymore), buying or borrowing some sleeping bag pads or an air mattress, buying a couple of Coleman fuel canisters for our lamp and possibly our stove (we bought firewood, but I'm more comfortable on camp stoves and charcoal grills), drawing up our menu and making sure our camping Dutch ovens are ready to go.
I'll post something more interesting when I'm feeling a bit better.
