Weekend in brief and pen-in-laundry fun.

Weekend in (very) brief: Got groceries for the next few weeks. Also bought a second Dora video (Dora's Backpack Adventure). Slept. Coughed. Himself gave me a backrub Monday night and put a bit too much pressure on an out-of-alignment vertebra. I'm thankful to have a good back brace (and to my sister for pointing me in its direction last year).

Today is laundry day. Laurel is wearing a pair of pants on her head and singing and I'm running the most recent load a second time after discovering Himself left a gel pen in his BDU pants pocket. Hooray for Simple Green and its ink-dissolving power.

My favorite so far is Señor Shush! (The first Dora video she got was Move to the Music.) He looks just like my grandpa.

i dont know how he did it but jeremy got a thick layer for shoe polish on the butt of his BDU's. he must have been squatting or something and he didnt polish his boots well enough. crazy men! jeremy alway's leaves pen's in his pocket's ruining my clothes, and the one time, ONE TIME he's done laundry he shrunk my new wool sweater that i haven't even had the chance to wear, so i banned him from the laundry.

I can barely imagine that, although I know how to get it out. This is actually the first time Robert's ever left a pen in the pocket of anything that's gone into the laundry; it's way more common for him to forget change. At least a dollar (in coins) a week gets washed around here.

You can somewhat unshrink wool by relaxing the fibers with hair conditioner. Use about a third of a cup conditioner ("creme rinse"-style has worked the best when I've done this) in a sink full of lukewarm water, let the item soak, and then dry it flat on a towel, stretching it gently to shape as it dries.

The first time Robert did laundry after we got married, he threw a chenille sweater in the wash! I had to clean out the dryer vent daily for over a week. (What few dry-clean only items we own go into a bag to go to the cleaners a few times a year, and he threw the entire bag into the wash -- luckily I got home before he threw most of it into the dryer, so we just lost the sweater.)
