I forgot to mention in my last post that while we were in the food court at Colorado Mills, I saw a man in lederhosen buying a meal at Qdoba. I was confused by his attire until my sister informed me there was a German nut roaster elsewhere in the mall. A quick Google search turned up its name: the Bavarian Roasted Nut Company. Hee.

Since my last post, Laurel got over her stomach bug, got mad that her new camera does not have an LCD preview screen, and received a lot of new clothes, toys and a Tattered Cover gift card for Christmas. I started coming down with a cold (most of my family recently or currently have colds), laid out a 40-page event program for my sister, and really, really missed vogonpoet.

Laurel watching skaters on the rink. We went down to Cherry Creek today to use our collective Tattered Cover gift cards, hit Kazoo & Company where Laurel got a bunch of neat small toys and I acquired a "beep beep car" (the car pictured in my travel icon), had lunch at Panera and watched people skating on the ice rink, then wandered into the mall to see the Narnia movie exhibit.

In the evening, I saw saarlander and his lovely wife for the first time in *cough* a few years. We really should see each other more often now that we live on the same continent again. (:

We haven't made firm plans for tomorrow yet, but I hope Evergreen Lake is open so we can take Laurel skating and we have tentative plans to see Laurel's Grandma Betty (Himself's mother) late Tuesday or early Wednesday.

I talked to Biko a few times when Vogon and I were on the phone today and probably sounded quite silly talking cat, but she mowed back at me. It's kind of odd to be more homesick for a place I've lived just shy of two years than for my parents' home in Evergreen where I lived (non-continuously) for roughly ten years, but Vogon's right that my home isn't there anymore. I'll have to return when it's warmer to get all the stuff I have stored here dealt with and off to the appropriate places.

Ah, crap. I was hoping to get up there to visit before you left. :/

S'okay. Next time I'm in Colorado it'll probably be during the summer and we can meet up then. I'm much more fun when I'm not shivering!

Sounds like you're having a grand time! Hope you and your family had a good holiday...

Aside from the unexpected surprise of bashing out the event program, I've been having a lovely relaxed trip.

Laurel thinks this is the Best Christmas Ever because she got to open gifts with my folks on Christmas Day, open more gifts from her paternal family a few days later, and then one more time after we get back to Dallas.

I think I am banned from shopping for baby toys because of the beep beep car... unless I buy one for my sister's baby soon. (;

I am glad that Laurel is feeling better. The weather here in Colorado is good right now, much better than the last few weeks. I hope you guys get to go ice skating at the lake, I haven't been to Evergreen in a month or so. My dad is one of the sponsors for skate the lake this year on new years so I am hoping to go and skate then. Enjoy the rest of your trip.:)

The lake was open again today, but we didn't make it over there. My folks will be volunteering at Skate the Lake as usual, but I don't know what they'll be doing (in past years they've tended burn barrels, run some of the children's games, twisted balloons and Dad has driven a shuttle bus). I hope you enjoy it if you go!

You know, this certainly isn't the first time I've heard your mention skating on the lake. Every time I hear it, I alway think, "gee, that sounds kinda fun, I should get up there sometime and try it."

I think this is the 8th or 9th season I've thought that. Maybe I'll actually do it next year :)
