Bampa's obituary.

Bampa's memorial service was yesterday, but I had to go searching for his obituary as I could only find a brief three-line blurb in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette obituaries online (23 February 2005, about two-thirds down the page). The obituary text from the funeral home:

Harold B. Janes, Jr.
April 22, 1922 - February 21, 2005

RUTLAND – Harold B. Janes, Jr., 82 of 241 Pommogussett Road, died at home on Monday, February 21, 2005.

His wife of 56 years, Elizabeth D. (Marshall) Janes, died in 1999.  He leaves a son, Marshall E. Janes of Ayer; seven daughters, Deborah S. Janes of Rutland, Joanne B. Strauch of Tiffin, Ohio, Lorinda B. Fearebay of Berlin, Barbara D. Gutierrez of Evergreen, Colorado, Marjorie E. Janes of Woodstock, Connecticut, Natalie A. Ridge of Evans, New York, Caroline E. Lomicka of Chelmsford; 15 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. A son, Gregory W. Janes of Plaistow, New Hampshire, died in 1993. He was born in Holden, son of Harold B. and Ruby E. (Dennison) Janes, graduated Holden High School and has lived in Rutland since 1967. 

Mr. Janes was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the Asiatic Pacific theater. He worked 20 years as an elevator mechanic for Otis Elevator and worked for the Town of Rutland Dept. of Public Works for 15 years, retiring in 1984.

A private memorial service for Mr. Janes will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Donations may be made to Heifer Project International, 216 Wachusett Street, Rutland, MA 01543. Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main Street, Holden, is directing arrangements.
