I am still sick, apparently with the flu. I've been sleeping a lot and taking ketoprofen for the headache and general soreness. I'm unloading the dishwasher in baby steps today as both sides of the sink are filled with things to wash since I'd left the dishwasher full of clean dishes while I've been sick.

There's some kind of work going on outside and it's driving Laurel nuts (Biko appears to be totally ignoring it). I hauled the blinds in her window all the way up to keep her from messing with them, but I can't do anything about the noise outside, nor have I been able to figure out exactly what they're doing. I should call the office and ask, but I really don't care.

Funny Laurel story: she saw a suitcase on TV and it inspired her to tell me all about the pink Care Bears suitcase we saw at Wal-Mart last month, then that she already has a suitcase that's black and I have one that's red. I was expecting a discourse on handbags next, but I guess she got distracted by something shiny.

edit 1315: I got the dishwasher unloaded and reloaded with rinsed dishes from the sink, handwashed the All-Clad wok (a Pan of Great Beauty, I think it might also give me +2 CHA when I'm touching it *g*) and made Laurel a quick lunch when she asked to eat around noon. (I think Vogon wasn't coming in for lunch today because of a chili cookoff at work, but the last thing he said to me this morning was "see you at lunch.") Since the stove top was grubby, I have the drip pans soaking in hot water and Simple Green while I take a break and Laurel tries to sing They Might Be Giants' "Boss of Me", which is alternately really cute and moderately annoying.

Sorry about the mess, hon. I was going to get to that when I got home, since I was almost late, even though I had it mostly packed and in the trunk.

Oh, and we won for hottest, though everyone seemed to really like it.

No problem. As long as I rest between doing things, I'll be less likely to overdo things and more likely to be relatively awake and coherent when you get in tonight.

Congratulations on winning for hottest. That's one thing I'd never doubt about your cooking. (;

Ask Laurel to sing "Boss of Me" when you get in. It's really funny for the first few minutes. Right now she's whirling around to "(She Thinks She's) Edith Head" and telling me to dance.

Yeah, she and I dance a bit, too. :)

I wonder if she'd like the mild chili that I made. It's pretty good, though not the best I've ever made.
