Still sick (flu), working noise outside bothers Laurel more than the cat, and a funny Laurel story.

I am still sick, apparently with the flu. I've been sleeping a lot and taking ketoprofen for the headache and general soreness. I'm unloading the dishwasher in baby steps today as both sides of the sink are filled with things to wash since I'd left the dishwasher full of clean dishes while I've been sick.

There's some kind of work going on outside and it's driving Laurel nuts (Biko appears to be totally ignoring it). I hauled the blinds in her window all the way up to keep her from messing with them, but I can't do anything about the noise outside, nor have I been able to figure out exactly what they're doing. I should call the office and ask, but I really don't care.

Funny Laurel story: she saw a suitcase on TV and it inspired her to tell me all about the pink Care Bears suitcase we saw at Wal-Mart last month, then that she already has a suitcase that's black and I have one that's red. I was expecting a discourse on handbags next, but I guess she got distracted by something shiny.

edit 1315: I got the dishwasher unloaded and reloaded with rinsed dishes from the sink, handwashed the All-Clad wok (a Pan of Great Beauty, I think it might also give me +2 CHA when I'm touching it *g*) and made Laurel a quick lunch when she asked to eat around noon. (I think Vogon wasn't coming in for lunch today because of a chili cookoff at work, but the last thing he said to me this morning was "see you at lunch.") Since the stove top was grubby, I have the drip pans soaking in hot water and Simple Green while I take a break and Laurel tries to sing They Might Be Giants' "Boss of Me", which is alternately really cute and moderately annoying.

On sorting buttons by size.

We currently have our buttons roughly sorted by size (and some by color) into a mix of plastic bags and containers, but I'd like to organize them so I have less to sort through when I need a specific number and size of buttons for a project.

I have two divided trays (think of a floss box, only larger) to use and think sorting by nearest eighth-inch (into 1/4" and smaller, 5/16" & 3/8", 7/16" & 1/2", 9/16" & 5/8", 11/16" & 3/4", 13/16" & 7/8", 15/16" & 1") would be nice, but the tool I'd use to help sort, a Staedtler circle template (the top item on this page), is in Colorado and I'm not.

I am wondering whether it'd be more efficient in the long run to replace it or do simply draw a template in Illustrator and print it.

edited to add: I put a .gif copy of the template I drew up in my LJ photo space at http://pics.livejournal.com/oddharmonic/pic/0002ahyx/ .
