Food/Recipes

Nothing but praise for Sabatino's Sausage Company.

When Vogon came in for lunch today, he asked me if I was feeling adventurous. It wasn't that much of a leap -- Sabatino's Sausage Company recently opened a location nearby and he wanted to try it out.

From the moment we walked in, I figured it couldn't be too bad after I immediately identified the background music as Sinatra. We were seated by a server who initially guessed we were a party of two since Laurel was shorter than the half-wall separating the entrance from the dining area, but he was attentive and called Laurel 'Princess', which charmed her.

Our drinks were served in goblets, which was a little tricky for Laurel (I carry "bendy" straws), and we were given a basket of warm, crusty Italian bread while we decided what to order. Vogon went with rigatoni and sausage, Laurel and I shared an order of manicotti, and we were all delighted by the cream soup that came with our entrees. I usually don't eat that much outside of holiday meals and we still brought home leftovers, which I suspect won't last long. (:

edit 21 Sep 05: The location didn't last long either. Several weeks later, they were closed and had a handwritten sign in the window that they were closed for a family emergency when we stopped by and shortly afterward, they closed for good. Too bad.
