Rewiring a lamp plug.

As a lower power-drawing alternative to using an overhead fixture (which there is, but it's a two-bulb fixture and lights unevenly with just one bulb), we have a wall-mounted touch lamp in Laurel's room. I love it except for one thing: it has a regular-style plug, which she can easily knock out. I know there are right-angle plugs available (both of our computer surge protectors have them) but I wonder how hard it would be to do that myself.

(I have reasonably good phone wiring skills, but I prefer clear, explicit instructions for any electrical wiring tasks to compensate for my lesser knowledge there.)
