I've been quiet lately since I have an abscess against one of my molars that's giving me guff (every time I use that word I imagine HST shouting "Don't take any guff from those swine!") and I keep unconsciously clenching my teeth. I'm irrigating it regularly with a 2:1 water-peroxide solution in the Waterpik, so it should clear up in a few days.

We tagged along with Vogon to Stonebriar Centre early Saturday evening and Laurel chose the exact same carousel horse she rode in May, which I found amusing. I may post a photo of it after I unload the camera.

Holiday cards are finally going out later today. It's later than I'd planned, but I figure better late than never. My sister found the two booklets of stamps I bought for last year's never-sent cards and called me to say thanks for the stamps but no thanks for addressing all the envelopes so she couldn't use them. Heh.

Note to self: remember to write blurbs about The Saddest Music in the World and Bollywood Queen for TODCRA.

w/r/t the last bit: Hooray! I actually have Saddest in the DVDs-what-I-have-bought-but-yet-to-watch stack. I wanted to catch it in the theater, but it came out the same time as Fahrenheit 9/11 -- which meant that there was a high, high turnover of movies, since they weren't selling tickets because everyone was going to see F9/11. This is the main reason f9/11 won't be part of my contributions to the TODCRA list (though others are, of course, welcome to put it on) -- it screwed me out of so many other movies I wanted to see. (Also, it seemed a bit rushed and could have used some fixing up. Sorta like a First Draft or somethin'. But I still liked it.)

I'd move Saddest towards the top of the stack. It's one of the better movies I've seen in a long time because it does very interesting things with music in a format that could easily have been created in the era it depicts, and does so in a time when "movie" has become synonymous with "slick" (and it doesn't hurt that the chickies are yumly). And, there's just a touch of madness in it. Not so much that it becomes stupid, but just enough that lawmakers will start to think about how to put a tax on madness.

Yeah -- pretty much the only reason I've held off at all is that I know Dale also wants to see it. Otherwise I'd have watched it when I got it. But yeah, we'll be watching it soon, if for nothing else that Guy Maddin hisself's coming to town next month to show Cowards Bend the Knee and Tales from the Gimli Hospital at the NW Film Forum, so, yeah...

Owie! Feel better.

I haven't gotten my holiday cards together yet. I just this morning burned the prototype for this year's CD. But you'll be getting a copy of both, once they're done.

My abscess cleared up quite nicely. They're usually no big deal, this is just the first one I've had that I really had to open wide to aim the Waterpik accurately.

Oooh, a CD! I'm a sucker for shiny things and so is Laurel -- among the unwrapped midget gifts my folks sent was a pair of kids' show soundtracks, so now we have over two hours of Dora the Explorer and JoJo's Circus music that I'm pretty sure should only be played when Vogon's at work. (I'd rate it only moderately annoying, but I like Sesame Street music.)

Yay! And Sesame Street music kicks ass.

molar abscess
I almost typed, "moral abscess" whahooo!

I hope your tooth is better. Geez, now with the pinkeye, you're just a mess!

If the infection in the tooth still hasn't cleared up, try gargling with warm salt water (preferably sea salt) It helps with the infection, but also relieves the pain quite a bit.

I haven't tried the drops you're speaking of, but the little boy I nanny for had pink-eye last week. I haven't gotten it thus far, and I don't think I will. If I do come down with it, I'll find out from you if the drops worked or not! ;)

Merry Christmas!

Re: molar abscess
My molar abscess cleared up, so now I'm just waiting on the pinkeye. I'm usually in reasonably decent health, but this fall/winter has been a tough one on my immune system.

Even though I probably have bacterial conjunctivitis based on the symptoms, the Pink Eye Relief drops have helped with the burning and inflammation.
