Interesting things in today's mail: credit card offers for Laurel, me, and a Martha [VogonLastName], a signed copy of To the Last Man I Slept with and All the Jerks Just Like Him (thanks Gwen! thanks chicklit!), a please-donate letter from The Smile Train (how'd I get on their mailing list?) and a mystery box from Amazon.com.

Confidential to revme: Vogon opened the box in case it was a surprise and grinned when he saw who it was from. He's promised to wrap the contents to go under the Christmas tree, provided Biko doesn't stake out the entire tree skirt for herself. (;

We got a CC offer for Lola Kirby the other day - apparently, our dog has excellent credit and is Capital One Platinum material. The people that make Greenies better watch out!

I'm trying to imagine Lola shopping now. How would she sign?

Hooray! I am glad it showed up!

(Also, more to vogonpoet than you, I suppose, since he was the one who actually saw it, but sorry about not actually putting any notes in the Gift Text Boxes this time; I was going to, but Amazon's changed their checkout thing around since the last time I did that, and I didn't see the thing until it was too late, and it inexplicably wouldn't let me add them after I placed the order. But it probably would have just been "Have a happy xistmas, hope you like this and hope you don't have this! - Matt" or something similar anyway, so it's not like you missed out too much.)

Not to worry, mate. She had already asked for all of the contents of that box, so I know she'll love it/them.

I'll wrap them up and put your name on them -- and maybe I'll include a couple of extras, just to add a bit of mystery. You are welcome to deny all knowledge of any gifts that you may or may not have been involved with sending. {grin} I'm the sort to include a bar of soap and a random string with the title "Soap and a rope" just to screw with a person's senses. ;)

Eh, but you have yet to get to know me.

"I am a lumberjack and I'm OK..."

Uh... wut? {blink}...{blink}

Ah, cool about the asking for part. One particular item I wasn't sure if:
a) She had already
b) I'd actually already given it to her
(I am remarkably bad at accidentally buying gifts over and over for people. I once bought my friend Sasha the same CD 3 times in a row. As of last year, however, I've started keeping a list of what I get people, so hopefully that won't happen again.) So, that probably means she doesn't have it, or if she does, she doesn't realize it, so that works too!

And feel free to elaborate however you see fit! And I can always just play along, all, "yes, I totally got that for you. Isn't it awesome?".
