B-52s = wonderful.

B-52s were wonderful, though we left one song short of the set ending. Vogon danced better than half the show with Laurel on his shoulders; the rest she was on my hip or standing and dancing holding one of our hands. I should have taken pictures or made a phone post, but I didn't. You'll have to use your imagination, but I'm still smiling even though my shoulders and legs hurt.

.....you got to see the B-52s?

Yep, they were the Saturday night headliner at Taste Addison. (Blondie is tonight.) Vogon, Laurel and I were fairly close in for the whole set, though we left before the encore so we missed one song. I am still grinning like an idiot.

That's pretty damned awesome. I'm less excited for you about Blondie, since I saw them on Conan when No Exit came out and they were kinda not that good, but perhaps if they stick to their old stuff they will be good!

AAAH! Scary icon.
B-52's are cool and all, but Blondie would definitely be the highlight (if for nothing more than the Luscious Jackson association) for me. Either way, sounds like a cool place if they can line up bands like that back to back.

Speaking of concerts, I'm hoping somewhere in the back of my mind that when Kathryn's brother comes out he'll apply extra peer pressure so we can go to Rock am Ring (http://www.rock-am-ring.com/schedule.html). It'd be a shame if we didn't go. Where else could we see Soil, Trapt, Drowning Pool, N.E.R.D., the peppers, nickelback, the roots, blackalicious, and dilated peoples in two days? Only downside: Kathryn would probably force me to accompany her see The Streets.

I can feel ya wincing for me already.

I don't think I could convince them to stick around for the third day, specially since the only notable act then is Groove Armada, and I've already seen them at the Fillmore.

Oh yeah, and there is a german band playing Sunday whose name translates to "The Dead Pants." Cool name, but not quite enough to stick around for :)

When we were threading our way toward the stage before the B-52s last night, I saw a guy wearing an Electric Honey t-shirt and it made me think of you. (:

Taste Addison apparently gets some really good headliners; Vogon saw Collective Soul there a few years ago.

I'm not hip enough to be familiar with The Streets, but I can sympathize. I am still glad Himself found someone to go see Dream Theater with him earlier this year because I wouldn't have enjoyed it.

When was Groove Armada at the Fillmore? I completely missed that and hope it wasn't when I was home or I'll kick myself. I missed Dispatch a few years ago when they opened for Tinker's Revenge -- spotted the ticket alert in the paper the day after the show. Agh.

Re: AAAH! Scary icon.
KTCL brought 'em in for some kind of radio-promo show. It was a couple months after they brought in the Basement Jaxx, DJ Rap, and Aphrodite. I think it might have been a Saint Patrick's day show. Ya, actually I think that was it. Probably 2000. But it was mostly a DJ set, with one of 'em playing bass guitar live. Basement Jaxx was awesome tho. They brought every odd instrument and all the singers they used for only 1 or 2 tracks on the album with them so they could do as much as they could live.

Also, Fear and Loathing is on Bravo right now. It's all... weirdly and obviously edited. I came in at the Adrenochrome scene. It's odd, because they kept in the word "tits", but went out of their way to avoid showing Dr. Gonzodemon's back with cutting.

I've been damned a long time, but thank you.

Should I have made a phone post? Would it be better if I make one tonight from the Blondie show?

I don't know! I probably wouldn't listen, since don't they do them in Ogg? I don't have anything on this machine that can play oggs. I looked for a codec once, but it was a tremendous pain in the ass, so I said fuck it. I don't know why I couldn't find one. But it was odd. And I didn't feel like downloading a separate player. Was surprised that Musicmatch couldn't handle them, nor could whatever version of Winamp I have. Nor WMP. But WMP is a piece of shit, so....

Musicmatch is the devil!
Except for the pay as you go part. That's cool.

But, I remember reading somewhere that all versions of winamp after like 2.62 support OGG. But, I couldn't find any music I wanted in OGG, so it kinda stunted my motivation to find out.

Re: Musicmatch is the devil!
None of this piqued your curiosity?

Re: Musicmatch is the devil!
The list didn't look that big when I looked at it last :)

Winamp supports Ogg files.

I don't know whether WMP does, but Windows Update offers a bundled codec pack it might be in. I haven't gotten around to downloading it yet since I primarily use Winamp.

That sounds like fun..who's Vogon? I'm curious.

Vogon = vogonpoet. We've been cohabitating and sharing spare brain cycles since late March.

I saw them last year in San Francisco...

I am forever in my own private Idaho.
