Laurel actually likes Me Too First and the Gimme Gimmes, so there's one thing from the CD collection we can listen to other than Sesame Street (which was starting to make me scary-crazy instead of my usual harmless-crazy).

On that note, I'm grateful she only colors herself when she finds a marker. Unpacking is still kicking my ass but I pinned down the bad smell around the sink to a long-dead mouse in a glue trap under it (I hadn't tackled that cabinet yet since I'm out of shelf paper). I'm half debating just recycling/otherwise ridding the house of a lot of the stuff that came with... I don't want to have to pack as much next time we move and I want to be done with unpacking already so I can talk to the landlord about permitting me to prep, seal and paint the wallpaper in the kitchen (harvest gold flowers with vines on avocado/off-white plaid), bathrooms (stripe/flower garland in off-white, avocado, gold and greyish blue) and above the faux mantel (early 80's delicate flower/stripe pattern).

Speaking of the mantel, the faux brickwork needs a good paint job since it's painfully fake-looking and was probably painted by the same person that did two amorphous pineapples on the kitchen island cabinet doors and similar-quality strawberries on the facing just below the counter next to the fridge.

That said, I'm off to continue unpacking and possibly unpack and reassemble Laurel's Playskool dollhouse -- in her room, as she drags enough toys into the living room as it is.

I was considering buying something from "Me TOo & the Gimme Gimmes" today. Now, my capitalistic programing is demanding I but one of their albums.

Get Are A Drag. It's Laurel's favorite of their CDs and if she likes it, you should too. (That's not to imply anyone should like Elmo because she does, but cut a toddler some slack. She has excellent taste in music and yells "NUTS!" when pointing at her knees.)

I'm not really sure who "Me Too and the Gimmie Gimmies" are.... Are you sure you don't mean "Me First and The Gimmie Gimmies???

I stand corrected, they are Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. I should look at the jewel cases sitting on the stereo (to prevent refiling while the discs are in the changer) before posting.

Incidentally, they say on their site that they're looking to play a Bar Mitzvah. After pondering the idea of a punk rendition of "Hava Nagila," Robert thought it would be cool but refused my suggestion that he become Jewish. Just as well, since we're nowhere near SF.
