Despite the end of the stomach bug limiting my activity, I survived Christmas with nary a scratch. I'll post (including photos) in more detail when I have more energy, but everyone was happy with what they received. I got a much-anticipated call from Michael and was assured he and K. were fine, just out of contact for a few weeks, and had a long conversation with vogonpoet, after which I was hungry for the first time since that bug bit me. I blame his Vogon tactics. (:

As a further reminder of why I avoiding the South is good for me, the used copy I ordered of Uncle Tom's Cabin (assigned reading at the middle school) showed up today... or rather, what the seller told me was did. I'm sending The First Step Bible back to Kentucky tomorrow and asking for a refund. I was mildly amused when I did a WHOIS query on the seller's domain name and got the seller's name and e-mail with an address in Maryland, but both addresses are still both south of the Manson-Nixon Line. Bah.

If anyone in Denver wants to hit the nearest CompUSA with me, it'd be appreciated. The Palm m500 meant to replace my dying-from-old-age HP Jornada would be swell if it actually worked. The screen is apparently disconnected but fixing it ourselves would probably void the warranty, so we're gonna have to haul to BFE to get to a store (the three nearest stores to us are the Westminster and Denver stores). If I have to RMA it I'm just going to ask for a refund and go to Best Buy, which has the advantage of having a store at Denver West, the only reasonably close church of consumerism to the house.

That is hilarious and awful. To their credit, _maybe_ someone else ordered the FSB, which means they'll be getting an amusing surprise in the mail, too.

Although, I admit, seeing as it's Kentucky, it's not necessarily likely.

Although if it does turn out that they sent a bible-orderer your copy of Uncle Tom's Cabin, perhaps next time you should order from them something like "Why Satan Is Awesome, Volume 3" and "Sacrificing Animals: Deadly and Delicious!"

He got back to me a few hours after I e-mailed him to let him know I was returning it; apparently he misaddressed it to me and says Uncle Tom's Cabin was also sent to me and should arrive in the next few days. I'm putting the FSB into the mail for him to the person who _did_ order it. Heh.

Y'know, I've been meaning to order The Satanic Bible after that Morally Offended Reviewer on Amazon.com that said Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy should be kept between that and the Necronomicon... *chuckles*

I"m up for going to CompUSA. I need to exchange that cold cathode anyway. :)

By your estimation, which of the stores is the closest?

*thinks* We could tie this in with that mending and hemming I offered to do for you. (:
