One of the great things about waiting for end-of-season clearance to stock up on wardrobe staples is getting three pairs of men's shorts for $15. Now I just have to evaluate how many of Himself's old pairs are salvagable and which get parted out for buttons, zippers and 'craps. (For those of you who don't know us in real life, he wears shorts and sandals year-round.)

It's a shame little girls' jeans now only seem to come in bell-bottoms (I know they're called flares, but I think they're ugly) or covered in excessive amounts of trim. Luckily little boys' jeans are just as sturdy and no-frills as when I wore them (read: until two years ago), so Laurel has carpenter jeans with lots of pockets and a cute clearance Winnie-the-Pooh jumper you'll see in this year's family picture.

Also scored a boxed set of greeting cards of Cappiello prints. After I frame four to go in our bedroom, if anyone would like me to mail them one, drop me an e-mail.

Next time I go to Colorado Mills, I'll take a photo of the ugly loveseat in the Neiman Marcus Last Call window for everyone's amusement -- it looks like one of those olive-green moldering couches popular in the 1970s with bun feet and a hideous floral print covering the back and accent pillows.

edit 27 Oct: I took a picture of the loveseat and no, that pricetag isn't wrong. They want $2445 for a loveseat you could easily find at Goodwill or in someone's basement and decorate with clearance floral fabric for a fraction of the price.

Shorts
I love shorts. Even when I lived in the frozen north (MA), I wore shorts year-round. People liked to beep at me when I was shoveling out of 2 ft of snow in shorts and a t-shirt. I did resort to other footwear when the weather required. Standing in 2 ft of snow in sandals isn't fun.

Last December, shortly after the ice storm, I walked Tinman to class. His teacher commented that I was in shorts and a tank top. She was wearing long johns under her pants, a t-shirt, turtle neck, button up shirt with a sweater on top, and a jacket. "Aren't you cold?" No, it's only 42 degrees out and it's not windy.

Not that you didn't already know I'm not quite "normal".

Re: Shorts
The more I get to know you the more I realize you and Himself are on a similar wavelength. (:

Until I unpack my shoes, I have wool ragg socks that go nicely with my sandals to keep my feet warm when it's frosty outside.

Wearing that much clothing for being above freezing is insane. I don't even put on long johns until it's below freezing for more than 12 hours of the day, and my friends tease me for getting cold easily. Heh.

Where did you find these greeting cards?

Re: Greeting Cards
On the clearance rack at Target.

The box packaging has smaller images of the four card images on the back above the text "Graphique Boutique / 12 Notecards and Envelopes (3 cards of each image) / Extra postage is required / Product of GF Limited / Woburn MA 01801 BS115S".

If you want them, I'd be happy to mail you the whole box after I make a color photocopy of the card images to frame.
