New photos up.

One not-really-a-promise from last week down: August and September photos are up.

Before I'm asked: all of the elk photos were shot from the deck, front doorway, or a car parked in the driveway. I do realize that a several-hundred-pound elk could easily kick my *ss if it wanted to, although Himself could probably take it out with a Swiss Army knife if we had someplace to dress it afterward.

'Night.

Mmm...fresh elk liver...num.

Damn, I'm drooling into my keyboard. Fresh game is one of those perks I *seriously* miss from living in MT.

Now you're making me hungry, woman. (:

With the way CO handles elk tags, the only time we have it fresh is if someone we know hit it.

It boggles my mind that she's now over half her dad's height and nearly a third of my weight. I can't pick her up anymore, but she snuggles enough I'm okay with it.

Technically, yes. Colorado has a lottery system for elk tags and it's been a crapshoot lately to get one, but a lot of elk ranchers are offering the same price for a tag on their private property since CWD (chronic wasting disease) has made elk meat prices drop. However, if you hit one driving, you get first dibs on it once the police have taken an accident report. If you don't take it, most areas have a running list of who to call that'll take it, ending with the shelters in Denver that can always use free meat.

the young ones grow up quickly do they not.
thats horrible that a shelter would be last on the list. youd assume they would be first. shows where the priority is at right.
