Brief health update.

This morning's call to the Tricare appointment line said the soonest I could get a women's health appointment is 17 July and the soonest I could see my PCM is the 29th (no shit), but advised me to go to sick call (1400-1500 MTuThF, 1100-1200 W) because of the severity of my symptoms.

Apparently most people show up at noon to check in for sick call, because we showed up at 1345 and didn't get seen until 1700. Part of it is due to being down providers this week, but we're lucky Laurel napped for most of the wait; they also ran errands while I was waiting. New PSU has been acquired, I'm looking for a 120 mm fan and we're still looking for a decent sub-$100 4-port KVM switch (suggestions welcome).

Most of the clinic was closed for the day by the time I was seen, so they weren't able to do much. Nothing immediately obvious is wrong, no abnormally-sized organs and nothing else that would show up on a visual pelvic exam. My PA thinks a couple weeks of estrogen will reset my cycle (read: I'm going to be even worse than I have been recently, sorry kenwestervelt) but I won't be starting them until after I've had a full workup/labs and pelvic ultrasound, which they managed to fit me in this week for... at 0730 tomorrow. Himself doesn't want me to bike into it (not that I'm in any condition for it) but waking up that soon after getting off work is gonna be rough on him.

Think good thoughts, or something.

Hi, my hubby wants to know if you'll be using linux on your setup. He says from there, he'll look for you. I guess we have a 2 port linksys switch that is nice, but I realize you want 4, not two.

As for your bleeding, I worry, because my aunt had some of the same problems. She DID end up getting a hysterectomy after dealing with your situation for almost 2 years. I would highly recommend the vaginapagina community, as they have useful links and information.

Good luck.

I don't know if we'll be using Linux. I'm sticking with WinXP since I'm too lazy to use an emulator for graphics programs, but he's been considering switching to Linux for his box and if he does, we might as well use it for the folding boxes.

I wish I was more of a hardware/OS person so I'd have an easier time figuring out a solution to let the two new boxes fold (they'll be on our home network router once they're running) without having to spend too much more on them.

Reproductive system problems run in my mother's family (she's the only one of seven sisters that's never had any parts of hers surgically removed) so I'm not really surprised, just annoyed with myself for not seeing it coming.

I'll have to check out vaginapagina. Thanks for the recommendation.

Ok, here are switches for you: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduct.asp?description=17-107-123&depa=1
This one supposedly has a $30 rebate, and is good. My husband prefers this one, I guess.

This one is just cheap and will do the job if you're not running high resolution: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProduct.asp?description=17-107-602&depa=1

I hope that helps.

For my setup, I use the Linksys 2-port KVM switch. It's the same thing as the 4-port, but just for two.

I have had only two issues with the thing in 2.5 years with it:

One is with the Mac not liking PS/2. But I got a PS/2 -> USB adapter and all is well.
The other is the switch hot-key is Ctrl key twice, and nothing else. I've had to remap some games so that I didn't go from the PC to the MAC while trying to kill the Nazis.

I bought just the switch itself a few years ago for about $50, then got cording separately, the good stuff for video. Came out with just $90 out of my pocket at the end of the day. (Got cheep-ass PS/2 cabling which work well)

oh god I hear you about getting the run around at the doctor's office. I went to an OBGYN on Sat. and again today. They don't really know what's wrong witt me but they think it's a pelvic infection. So basically I'm just supposed to sit around, drink lots of water, and take anti-biotics for two weeks. It's quite ridiculous but I'll do anything to feel better. Anyway good luck to you, and if you're going on estrogen, may luck be with you as I turned into an evil moster when I first took hormones.

Apology accepted, and warning acknowledged. As always, my offer to de-Laurel you stands. It looks like you could use the break.

BTW, I'm interested in borrowing the tricycle for a day. One of my less savory co-workers wanted us to pool our cash to buy him a bike. I wanted to grant him his wish for a few minutes. >:D

It's not so much that I need a break from her, I need a break from my f*cked-up reproductive system. Unfortunately that's not happening anytime soon.

Tricycle? You mean her little plastic big-wheel? We've got two -- one with a tall push handle on the back and one without. You're always welcome to borrow either, just leave us a note (or talk to whoever's home) when you do.
