Oh sweet mercy, I just found a place in Dallas that has poutine. Mind it's the chicken-based gravy and not my beloved beef-based, but it's still delicious.

From the Observer review: Marlo’s House 1456 Belt Line Road, No. 120, Garland, 972-530-0912. Open 4-8 p.m. Thursday, 4-9 p.m. Friday-Saturday.

The Skillet Street Food Thingy in Seattle has AWESOME poutine. And it's beef! So yay!

You keep taunting me with Seattle things like it is the Promised Land.

I have to visit there someday.

I have to make my way down to it, as Garland is a good-ish drive south and east of me -- not too bad by car, but since I explore by bus it's a major undertaking.

I can do the gravy and fries all right on my own, but I must find a source for cheese curds locally.

OOMG. I have always wanted to try that! I mean it seriously sounds like southern food and I have no idea why it is only served in and near Canada.

Let me know the next time you go and I'll meet you there!

I just checked with my friend in Canadia who has been insisting I try poutine for months now. He says that chicken-based gravy is good enough. He also wants to know if the cheese curds squeaked and if they had thick cut fries?

The chicken- vs. beef-based gravy is just a preference thing.

I have not been to Marlo's House yet because Garland is a pretty good haul for me and their primary cuisine is Pennsylvania Dutch, which Vogon is not even remotely interested in eating.
