This happened around the far corner of our block. The apartments shown behind one of the victims are the cheapest in the neighborhood and frequently mistaken for public housing. (The actual city-owned housing is a few blocks away and blends in with the rest of the nicer complexes.)

Two signs this won't be in the news long:
- What the teens were doing out that late on a school night is probably not going to elicit sympathy; and
- The victims were taken to Parkland Hospital (for Denver people, this is like being taken to Denver Health).

Parkland Hospital. Didn't they kill a president? ;)

One and the same.

Another funny Parkland story: there's a chestnut among emergency healthcare providers that the pet stores in the neighborhood around the hospital have signs by the rodents warning against-- ah, insertion into human orifices. I have not confirmed whether that is true, but it cracks me up.

And quite the picture of Robbie Owens to accompany that story.

Sad
Oh man... *wince*

Yeah. I remember that intersection well. I was actually thinking of moving back to that neighborhood.

Oh, and that chicken place is vile.

Re: Sad
Generally the neighborhood hasn't gone too downhill over the four years I've lived in it, just lost a few grocery stores and had some turnover in the restaurants. The new Indian restaurant is great; the Thai restaurant is okay but we still prefer Chow Thai.

I noticed the news story because the local news said "Marsh Lane" and I looked up to see the reporter standing in front of Taco Bell.

If you're thinking about moving back, there's a brand-new apartment complex at Briargrove and Vail with wood floors and granite countertops but no pool. We took a tour of the place right before they opened last spring.
