It was beastly hot -- it turned out to be the hottest day of the week -- and hard to keep Laurel well-hydrated, but she eventually figured out that her wide-mouthed water bottle always came with ice when it was refilled. We put our feet in the pool to cool off, but no-one wanted to get in because the water was green from algae.

On the way back from a trip to the pool store, Dad picked up burgers from Doublz for lunch. Holy grease-bombs, Batman.

She charmed her way into a treat from an ice-cream truck before dinner and ate about half of a Powerpuff Girls ice cream bar before enough of it melted down her arm that it became streaked with blue and greenish-gray and she decided she was done. Still in chocolate-avoidant mode, I demolished an orange creamsicle before it had the chance to melt.

We grilled a late dinner and Laurel passed on the good homemade Mexican food for a hot dog. I had carnitas reheated on the grill from breakfast and I'll be d*mned if they didn't taste as good on the return trip when I spent the night sick from the heat.
