Enlightening and unintentionally hilarious...

Hanty Panty: How to make panties from handkerchief

The only handkerchief I own was my grandmother's and I have no interest in turning it into a pair of smalls, though I'm tempted to make myself some boxers to sleep in with fabric I have on hand. (I'd probably use a pattern I already have since I'm lazy like that.) Naming the men's underwear gallery "Snake Charmer" is Pure Comedy Gold.

How do you FIND this stuff?! LOL.

As for your grandma's hanky, have you considered a pillow cover from it? I've seen some with a large single button, made to resemble an envelope, with the button at the flap's "V".

I was looking at Japanese sewing sites after I saw a couple pages scanned from a Japanese quilting book on how to make a zippered cosmetic bag on a craft blog. Since I can follow illustrated directions without needing text if they note measurements in Arabic numbers, I went off in search of more interesting Japanese patterns online.

That underwear site also has a bunch of dollmaking patterns, then I found some cute free patterns at K's Gallery and hit the motherlode of free pattern sheets at Clover's Japanese site. (Clover makes sewing, knitting and quilting tools.)

I'll have to buy Clover's Asian knot templates before I can make some of the things in the free pattern sheets, but they're available in the US so I won't pay more than they're worth for shipping. (:

I had a feeling they were Oriental in nature.

You, my dear, have amazing skeelz.

Re the handkerchief, my sister told me I'm not allowed to alter it in any way.

I don't contradict big sisters that used to threaten to sit on me, although I did snort my drink at a maternity shirt that said "I may look like Buddha, but you may NOT rub my belly" and buy it as a surprise for her. I love her. Really.
