One thing I am good at when sufficiently motivated is being Really Damned Annoying. I'm often slow to respond (I need to stew for awhile), but I'm effective when I finally strike.

Our noisy downstairs neighbors started their three-song playlist and drunken mariachi karaoke at 0230 on Christmas Day, keeping Vogon and I awake at an hour we really wanted to be asleep. We mitigated the worst of it by turning on music in our apartment, but I want something different for New Year's Eve.

While thinking about what genre or specific artist would be effective at canceling out the neighbor's noise and pleasing to both of us, I was reading through the syndicated feeds I subscribe to through LiveJournal. In the Language Hat article "Bollywood Language", I followed a link to Bollywood for the Skeptical and was delighted to find NINETEEN tracks from movies available for free download.

[in Montgomery Burns voice] Excellent.

That linked site really is a train wreck, visually, but the information is fantastic! Bollywood infection spreading. . .

[in Smithers voice] Good job, sir!

I spread the infection to Vogon when we rented Bollywood Queen from our local Blockbuster earlier this month. I'm hoping for some rotation in their foreign films so we can get our Bollywood fix through them. (:

When I was a teen, I lived in a townhouse and shared a bedroom wall with the neighbors bedroom.

I could of enjoyed the sounds that passed through the walls, except they were a fight and make-up couple. So sex sounds were usually bookended with fight noises.

Re arranging my room didn't help much, but it did end up putting my stereo next to the shared wall.

So when they fought, I'd turn my speaekrs to the wall and play the battle themes from the StarWars sound track and something tacky sweet when they were making up.

The next week I heard other neighbors teasing them about trying for a 3rd kid. The blushed and stammered they werent.

The next week, their kids were talking about swapping rooms with their parents.

Funny the neighbors never heard StarWars back to back with tacky sweet loves songs again from room.

You've shared this one before and I still think it's a great idea.

I have to find something they don't like but can hear. I think I've found a solution to the latter since we swapped speakers around so I have a set of Dolby 5.1 speakers with the subwoofer sitting on the floor.

subwoofer on the floor.

Ooooo.

You can get them good.

When do you wake up in the mornings?

The morning after a night of their partying, you can alway pop in some kids DVD for the little one and crank up the bass.

She usually wakes after 10am. I, on the other hand, wake at about 4am on a late morning. {evil grin}

I can be a very vindictive bastard, myself, if I do say.

So, they better cut it out or I'll become the devil himself.

I like that idea.

Hubby owns an album from a band named "Anal Cunt". We play it when our neighbors blast country.

After giggling at the name, I looked the band up. I might listen to them sometime.

We played trance on Christmas, which worked great for canceling their noise out. When we turned it down an hour later, we found their music was still at the same volume. Meh.

There's also "Anal Blast", one of their contemporaries.
One of the two ended up morphing into Slipknot (the name of which kills me, you know - heavy metal knitting!)
