Say you were meeting a new person, and you wanted them to have some idea of who you are, but you can't actually tell them in words. Instead, you have to give them a box, with a dozen things in it for them to look at/read/listen to/taste/etc. What would you put in the box? (A copy of your journal or a link to your LJ or personal site would be the same thing as just telling them directly so that's cheating.)

1. My portfolio.
2. My purple vintage 'Jackie O' dress.
3. One of my finished needlework pieces, preferably Faerie Godmother or, if it's far enough in the future that I've finished it, New World Discovery.
4. Heroes of Might and Magic IV.
5. A Fair Trade chocolate bar.
6. Edward Abbey's The Journey Home.
7. A mix disc of Looters, Indigo Girls, disappear fear, Laura Cantrell, Julie Miller, and Simon and Garfunkel.
8. Azuki bean ice cream.
9. One of my handwoven blankets.
10. Benjamin Alire Saenz' Carry Me Like Water.
11. vogonpoet's recipe for chiles en nogada.
12. My sandals. Or a picture, since I might be wearing them if it's not snowy.

Walnut sauce. The dish consists of stuffed poblano chiles with walnut sauce. vogonpoet's recipe is fairly close to the version in Diana Kennedy's The Cuisines of Mexico.

...for a minute, I read that as "...in Dead Kennedys' 'The Cuisines of Mexico'" and I was all thinkin' "Man, I knew Jello was sorta wacky, but that's an odd thing to write a probably politically charged song about, or even use as a metaphor in said Probably Politically Charged Song."
